Background

Over the course of history, human life has increasingly shifted indoors. From a nature-oriented way of living, we have evolved into a reality in which people now spend, on average, more than 90%—or around 21 hours—of their daily time indoors.

At the same time, practical projects and scientific studies repeatedly reveal the same pattern: respiratory strain, stress, concentration difficulties, productivity losses, and sleep disorders are often closely linked to spatial factors such as air quality, acoustics, lighting, or usage conditions. Yet these relationships are still rarely captured, analyzed, or actively utilized in a systematic way within buildings.

In addition, health, energy efficiency, and sustainability cannot be considered independently. In practice, every intervention affects multiple dimensions—and this is precisely where many existing building and IoT solutions reach their limits.

These observations revealed a clear technological gap: conventional buildings are not designed to actively support health in indoor environments. Traditional systems can regulate comfort and temperature, but they fail to address the complex biological needs of humans. At the same time, many solutions lack contextual awareness—room type, usage scenario, time of day, or user group are rarely differentiated. Health, energy efficiency, and sustainability are often treated in isolation rather than balanced in their interactions. Furthermore, integration barriers remain high, as available IoT systems are either too simplistic for meaningful health analysis or so complex and costly that integration into existing infrastructure becomes impractical.

Nebatic was developed to address this gap—strengthening health and well-being, energy efficiency, and sustainability in a way that is effective, responsible, and future-proof. This approach is grounded in years of industry experience and a solid scientific foundation.
